About the Pomsky
A Pomsky is a cross between a Siberian Husky and a Pomeranian. They are intelligent, affectionate, expressive dogs with varying sizes, coats, and temperaments depending on their generation and genetics. Pomskies are not a one-size-fits-all breed. They require commitment, time, training, and lifestyle compatibility. This page is designed to help you understand whether a Pomsky is truly right for you.

Personality & Lifestyle
Pomskies are intelligent, entertaining, and deeply engaging dogs
— but they are not low-maintenance and are not suited to every lifestyle.
They require a secure garden and are not suitable for apartment living
or being kept indoors all day. Without space, stimulation, and regular interaction, Pomskies can become bored and depressed. While they are clever escape artists, they are not roamers like Siberian Huskies. They tend to be far more people-attached, taking after the Pomeranian side, and prefer staying close to their humans rather than running off.
Personality & Behaviour
Pomskies are often the fun dogs at the park — expressive, confident, and full of character. They are highly intelligent but independent thinkers, which means they sometimes appear stubborn or “selectively deaf” (they do hear you, they simply decide when to respond).
Common traits include:
-
Strong attachment to their humans
-
Attention on their own terms
-
Playful, goofy, and entertaining
-
Confident yet independent
-
Food personalities — some love food, others are very fussy.
They do not cope well with being left alone for long periods. Pomskies are best suited to homes where people are around most of the day, such as households where someone works from home. If you are away for long hours, doggy daycare is essential. If this is not possible, this is not the right breed for you.
Energy & Instincts
Pomskies are energetic without being hyperactive and make excellent jogging companions, reflecting their sled-dog ancestry. Despite their fluffy appearance, they retain strong instincts and will happily chase birds or small animals if given the opportunity.
When bred responsibly, Pomskies are typically robust, healthy dogs with strong digestive systems.
Pomskies are not decorative dogs — they are relationship dogs. When their needs are met, they are loyal, amusing, intelligent companions with a unique and unforgettable personality.

Generations Explained
An F1 Pomsky is a first-generation cross between a Siberian Husky and a Pomeranian (50% / 50%). These Pomskies often show more variation in size and coat.
